Random Picker: Wheel Spinner and Slot Machine

Add a list of names or options, then spin the wheel or pull the slot-machine lever to pick one at random. It suits raffles, choosing who goes first, settling a tie, or deciding where to eat. Wheel and Slots are two ways of showing the same thing: one random pick from your list. Your list is saved on your device and nothing is sent to a server.

How it works

  1. Type the names or options you want to choose between and add them one at a time.
  2. Choose Wheel or Slots at the top. Your list stays the same when you switch.
  3. Press Spin, or pull the lever. The result appears when the wheel or reels stop.
  4. Remove the winner and spin again if you need a second or third place.

How the pick is made

With the Wheel, the tool draws one segment for each entry, all the same size, and spins to a random final angle. The winner is whichever segment is under the pointer at the top when the wheel stops. Because the angle is random and the segments are equal, every entry has the same chance. With Slots, the tool chooses one entry at random as soon as you pull the lever, and the three reels then spin and stop on that entry, one after another. The two modes are different ways to present the same single random pick, and they share your list of entries.

Randomness comes from your browser's standard random number generator. That is entirely suitable for choosing who goes first, picking a restaurant, drawing a raffle among friends or breaking a tie. It is not designed for regulated lotteries or prize draws where an independent audit trail is required.

Making it work for your situation

To give someone better odds, add their name more than once: an entry that appears twice is twice as likely to be picked. To pick several winners without repeats, spin, note the winner, remove them from the list, and spin again. For team picks, remove each person as they are chosen. The Wheel keeps a short log of recent results so you can see what came up. Your list is saved on your device so it is still there next time, and it is shared between Wheel and Slots.

Limits

The wheel is easiest to read with up to a few dozen entries; beyond that the labels get small, and Slots shows the winner more clearly. There are no accounts, so the list lives only in the browser you used. Clearing your site data clears it. The tool picks entries as typed and does not check for duplicates, so two entries with the same text are treated as two separate chances.

Frequently asked questions

Is the pick really random?

Yes. The wheel stops at a randomly chosen angle and every segment is the same size, so every entry has an equal chance. The slot machine chooses one entry at random as soon as you pull the lever and the reels then animate to land on it. Both use your browser's built-in random number generator, which is fine for games, raffles among friends and tie-breaks, but is not meant for legally regulated draws.

What is the difference between Wheel and Slots?

Only how the result is shown. Both pick one entry from your list with equal odds. Use whichever you like the look of.

Can I give one entry better odds?

Yes. Add the same name more than once. Someone who is entered twice has twice the chance of being picked.

Does it remember my list?

Yes. The list is saved in your browser on your device, and the Wheel keeps a log of recent results. Clear your browser's site data to remove them.

How many entries can I add?

There is no fixed limit, but the wheel is easiest to read with a handful of entries up to a few dozen. With a very long list, Slots shows the winner more clearly.
